Voorhees Stars

Welcome To Voorhees Stars!

The Voorhees STARS is the premier girls' travel fastpitch softball program in Hunterdon County, N.J.  The program's inception was in 1996 and inspired by Voorhees High School graduate and two-time USA Softball Olympic gold medal champion, Michele Smith. Our home fields are the Voorhees High School Varsity Field in Glen Gardner and Old Turnpike School in Tewksbury, N.J. Our primary focus is to promote softball and develop players within the Voorhees High School sending districts and neighboring towns.  We have players from Hunterdon, Morris, Warren, and Somerset Counties. In 2021 we are sponsoring teams at 12U and 16U levels.  Check back here often for more Voorhees STARS news and to see why everyone wants to be a STAR!  And yes, that's a real STARS player photo above, and yes she was safe!

We are always interested in your comments and suggestions.

[Nov 13 2021]   STREAM CLEAN-UP ON APRIL 16, 2022

Three volunteer service hours are available for middle and high school players to help clean up debris from the Rockaway Creek. This watercourse is categorized as a "Category 1" trout-production stream by the state Department of Environmental Protection and provides clean drinking water for millions of New Jersey residents. The quality of this stream affects residents in in Morris, Hunterdon, and Somerset Counties, and the stream flows into the Raritan River and Atlantic Ocean.  Clean-up site is the Tewksbury Park & Ride Access Road, off Route 523 and Exit 24, Route 78 East. This road is located on acres of wetlands that drain into the adjacent Rockaway Creek. Come join the fun and make a positive impact on the environment for future generations!

[Nov 13 2021]   OVERNIGHT SOFTBALL CAMP - JUNE 17-19, 2022

The 2022 STARS Overnight Softball Training Camp, for girls ages 9-17, will be held from June 17-19, 2022, at Cross Roads Camp and Retreat, 29 Pleasant Grove Road, Port Murray. The only overnight softball camp in northern New Jersey offers players the ability to escape from daily routines, focus on intense softball training, participate in team building, develop leadership skills and enjoy many other fun activities together, including High Ropes Challenge courses, basketball, volleyball, hiking, soccer, swimming in a lifeguarded pool, bonfires with s'mores, and special guests. The 2020 and 2021 camps did not take place due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The 2019 camp was a rousing success, hosting 22 overnight campers. The girls played a lot of softball, learning and honing their skills from college instructors, while having a blast with their softball BFFs.

There will be six meals served in the Dining Hall. Camp T-shirts and dorm assignments will be distributed upon check-in by 9:00 a.m. on Friday, June 17. Dismissal is 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, just in time to spend Father's Day with dad.  A Camp Brochure with all details will be posted shortly.

WE NEED 4-5 MOMS TO SLEEP OVERNIGHT WITH OUR GIRLS IN THE CABINS TO KEEP THE PEACE. PLEASE VOLUNTEER FOR "TEAM PARENT" DURING REGISTRATION. REGISTRATION WILL OPEN AFTER 1/1/22.
